About Sonali
Marlow Studio Pottery was founded by Sonali Bolar, a potter with over 25 years of experience.
Her journey began as a production potter and has evolved into creating larger ceramic works for galleries and public spaces. Her practice combines wheel-throwing and hand-building, often exploring functional forms layered with texture and subtle colour.
Alongside her own work, Sonali has a deep interest in the materials and processes behind ceramics — from developing glazes and clay bodies to experimenting with different firing techniques. At the heart of it all is a fascination with clay itself, and the transformation that happens when earth, fire and water come together.
Teaching has always been a natural extension of her practice. Through Marlow Studio Pottery, she has created a space where people can learn, experiment and enjoy working with clay, supported by years of experience and a genuine love of sharing the craft.

Sonali at Marlow Studio Pottery is a truly wonderful teacher and talented artist. Whatever your level, talents or experience she patiently shows you techniques, suggests, and enthuses you to explore your own creativity.
Hyley Fowler
Gorgeous little community studio run by local resident, Sonali. It is such a friendly and welcoming environment. It is well equipped for throwing and hand building projects.
Janice Dingley
A fantastic studio. Sonali is a skilled and patient tutor with a wealth of knowledge. A friendly environment. I’ve really enjoyed my first year of classes.
